I am Genevieve Kitchen and delighted to say I am standing to be the Labour Member of Parliament in South Northamptonshire where I grew up.
I was brought up in Potterspury, and I attended the local secondary school in Deanshanger, spending much of my time in Towcester Library. So for me it's a real honour to represent my home and to have the opportunity to give back to my community – a community that gave me so much. By standing up for South Northamptonshire and the people who helped shape me, and working for you, I can make a difference to where we work and our families live.
While out campaigning on a manifesto for hope and change, many people have asked me about Brexit. I want to be frank, I am a remainer, but I know and love many people who voted to leave. I believe their voice should be listened to, which is why I am backing Labour’s second referendum proposal. The people spoke, parliament hasn't been able to deliver, so give it back to the people to decide on the final deal.
Bringing the community together and fixing ordinary people’s problems are what I love about being a local representative. You get to change real people’s lives for the better. Thank you so much for the opportunity to make our rural community a better place.
