Funding now available through South Northamptonshire Council from the Lottery and Sports England Sportivate programme could mean a chance for anyone aged between 14 and 25 to try out new sports. It’s also an opportunity for sports clubs to boost their membership.
The council is looking to inject Sportivate funding into sports clubs that can open their doors to new and returning participants. To qualify, clubs will need to comply with rules on child protection and first aid, and be working towards or have achieved a Level 2 coaching award. The funding can be spent on facility hire, equipment and promotion.
Any King's Sutton sports club that's interested in getting involved in Sportivate should contact Tom Kittendorf of South Northants Council using the details in the Quick Contacts section of this website. (Listed under "South Northamptonshire Council, Sportivate".)
Cllr Rosie Herring, South Northants portfolio holder for community wellbeing, says: "As the Olympics draw closer it's a great time for young people to get involved in sport. If your sport club thinks it could use this funding creatively to attract more members, get in touch with the council and we'll see if we can help."
