Some King’s Sutton residents broadly support the government’s plans for the new HS2 high-speed rail line connecting London and the West Midlands. Others are deeply worried by the damage such an enormous development will inevitably do both to the nation’s finances and to South Northamptonshire’s glorious countryside. Still others are concerned that the promoters of an alternative route (among them our local MP, Andrea Leadsom) may ultimately succeed in persuading the government to switch HS2 to the M40 corridor, right on our doorsteps.
Whatever your views on HS2, next week’s public meeting in Brackley provides an opportunity to consider the arguments and discuss related issues such as compensation and mitigation, and the proposed judicial review. The meeting will take place on Tuesday April 10 at 18:30 at the Women’s Institute Hall, Manor Road, Brackley (opposite the Waitrose car park).
