Sunday night’s fireworks display, organised by former White Horse landlord Chris Prothero and Playing Fields committee chairman Mike Kidd, was enjoyed by around a thousand spectators from King’s Sutton and beyond. The evening went off with a bang despite relentless rainfall for much of the day, which miraculously turned into cold but dry weather by late afternoon though still very wet underfoot.
Mike Kidd said:
“We’d like to thank all the sponsors, villagers, friends and visitors who attended on the night. The weather made it difficult to arrange all the activities due to the ground being saturated, but following sterling work from our volunteers throughout the day the show went ahead.
“Apologies to all who attended for the late start to the display. This was purely down to the wet ground affecting the electrical firing mechanism. But when it started, it did what it said it would do... Bigger and better than last year – and guess what next year will be like!”
It is hoped a video of the display will be available for viewing soon. King’s Sutton News will announce how much money was raised on the night as soon as the accounts have been completed.
