Southern Gas Networks has advised the parish council that the temporary road closure of Bulls Lane and the related diversion through Sandringham Road and Blenheim Rise should be lifted by tomorrow evening (Tuesday, March 10). The closure followed a gas leak caused by the collision of a car with the wall of a property at the junction of Bulls Lane and Banbury Lane on Saturday evening. While the leak itself was rectified by yesterday morning, the road had to be dug up as part of the process and must remain closed until it is fully repaired. The hole should be filled back in by tomorrow and the road will then re-open as soon as the tarmac has cured.
Worryingly, residents have reported that rather than turning around and using the signed diversion, some people have chosen to drive the wrong way up Red Lion Street, ignoring the “No Entry” signs. It should go without saying that this is a dangerous, illegal and utterly stupid thing to do.
