Infrastructure improvement works mean Chiltern Railways services will be running into London Paddington all day tomorrow, Sunday July 5. Not a huge problem you might think. However, if you were planning to get to London from King’s Sutton much before mid-day, you may want to make other plans...
In addition to its change of terminus, Chiltern says the line between Gerrards Cross and Banbury will be closed until “approximately 11:00” in the morning and the company will be running its dreaded replacement bus services until then. (In fact, according to the National Rail timetable, passengers from King’s Sutton will have to catch a bus for some afternoon services from King’s Sutton as well.)
Train journeys tomorrow will obviously take a lot longer than usual. But ticket prices are eye-watering too – they’re either £40.50 or £42.90 for a single for all but one of the journeys to London (the last train at 22:00 costs £28.90) and from £45.50 for a return!
