Ian Morris has resigned as councillor for South Northamptonshire's King’s Sutton Ward. Cllr Morris stood down due to the increasing level of commitment needed for his role as the Northamptonshire County Council Cabinet member for Highways. A notice of vacancy was published yesterday (Wednesday, March 15).
“It has been an honour to represent King’s Sutton,” says Cllr Morris, ”but the residents deserve 110 per cent from their local Councillor. With my commitments to the County Council portfolio I am currently unable to provide this. It is with a heavy heart that I leave SNC and I would like to wish the administration all the best. It was a privilege to serve as a councillor.”
Two electors have written to request an election for the King’s Sutton Ward and, if contested, a poll will take place on Thursday, May 4 this year to coincide with the County Council elections.
