Northamptonshire County Council’s withdrawal of public transport subsidies in summer left many elderly King’s Sutton residents who relied on the former 499 bus service without a convenient and free (or low cost) way to attend medical appointments in Banbury and elsewhere in neighbouring Oxfordshire. (While South Northants Volunteer Bureau (SNVB) operates a volunteer driver service to Brackley, it doesn’t cover Oxfordshire destinations.)  Now Volunteer Connect, which was set up principally to offer services to residents of communities within Cherwell District, has agreed to fill the gap and make its volunteer driver service available to people living in King’s Sutton for journeys into Banbury and the Oxford hospitals. NB: The Volunteer Connect service can only be used by King’s Sutton residents who need to attand medical appointments in Banbury and Oxfordshire.
