New Driving Experience Opportunities for 16-24 Year Olds at Silverstone in September and October

September 6th, 2011

Northamptonshire County Council is working with various partners including Renault, Adrian Flux and Sainsbury’s to deliver driving experiences for young drivers. The council is now taking bookings for events on Sunday, September 18 and Sunday, October 23, which will take place at the Porsche Centre at Silverstone.

There are two types of event:

  • Drive16 is aimed at people of 16 or nearly 16 years of age who have yet to take up driving. Drive16 comprises a first driving lesson with an approved driving instructor in a dual control car, with a workshop that enables participants to find out what it takes to get their driving licence and also outlines the realities of owning and running a car. Also included is an interactive safety workshop session looking at staying safe on the road; a free Driving Test Success DVD offering advice on how to prepare for the driving test plus a voucher worth £50 off a car insurance policy with Adrian Flux. For residents of King's Sutton and elsewhere in Northamptonshire, the price for Drive16 is £25.00. (People living outside the county are charged £49.00.)

  • CarKraft is aimed at people of 17-24 years of age who want to test their driving skills on Silverstone's Porsche test track. The track uses the latest technology and specially constructed surfaces to replicate wet, ice and snow. Participants will thus learn how to control a car in varying road/weather conditions. Also included is an on-road assessment with a Police Advanced Driver and a practical road safety session looking at common contributory factors in road traffic collisions including alcohol. Finally, participants receive a voucher worth £50 off a car insurance policy with Adrian Flux. For residents of King's Sutton and elsewhere in Northamptonshire, the price for CarKraft is £49.00. (People living outside the county are charged £99.00.)
