Those King’s Sutton residents who don't currently enjoy access to mains gas could benefit from membership of a local buying syndicate for domestic heating oil. The syndicate, launched last Autumn by the Northamptonshire branch of ACRE (Action for Communities in Rural England), is already saving its 60-or-so existing members up to £30 per 500-litre order.
Northamptonshire ACRE says the success of the syndicate so far vindicates its belief that harnessing the purchasing power of the many rural communities without mains gas can help oil-buyers make significant savings. Helping households to save money is especially important in the county’s rural areas where there is far greater ‘fuel poverty’ than in the county’s urban areas.
