Wales Street flood alleviation scheme back from the dead? Council to unveil new plans this week.

May 21st, 2017

Last November, South Northamptonshire Council effectively condemned the Wales Street Flood Alleviation scheme to death by announcing it would likely withdraw support for the scheme. (Click here for the story.) Ultimately, however, the council was persuaded to grant the scheme a stay of execution after interventions from King’s Sutton Parish Council, the Flood Alleviation Group, the village’s former district councillor, Ian Morris, and the then constituency MP, Andrea Leadsom.

Now, the council will be presenting a revised outline design for the Wales Street scheme at the Millennium Memorial Hall between 12:00 and 19:00 on Wednesday May 24, 2017. Representatives from the council and the design team, WSP, will present drawings and a video at the hall to help visualise the proposals, and will be on hand to talk through the new plans and answer any questions residents may have. At the same time, the council is seeking feedback from residents, who will have an opportunity to give their own thoughts on the revised scheme.
